Bug & Seek is a relaxing bug-catching game with a mystery twist. You've just bought an abandoned insectarium in the cozy town of Buggburg.

What is Bug & Seek?

A peaceful bug-catching creature collector. You catch real-life insects, build an insectarium, explore the cozy town of Buggburg, and solve a light mystery.

Is Bug & Seek single-player?

Yes - it's a single-player experience with no multiplayer modes.

Does it have combat or stressful mechanics?

No. There's no combat, no energy meters, no failure states, and no mini-games to lose at.

Are the bugs real?

Every bug in the game is based on a real species, with codex entries that include real biology and behavior notes.

Is there a demo?

Yes - the Steam page includes a downloadable demo so you can try it before you buy.

Which platforms is it on?

Bug & Seek is available on Steam for Windows and macOS. It's also available on Nintendo Switch. The Bug & Seek: Expedition Edition is out now on itch.io. Coming soon to Android, iOS, and more...

Does it support controllers?

Partial controller support. The game was designed mouse-first, but most actions are mappable to a controller.

Can I stream or make videos?

Yes. All gameplay is cleared for monetized streaming and video. See the creator kit here.

How long is the game?

Most players finish the main storyline in 15-20 hours. Completing the full codex takes considerably longer - some bugs only appear in specific seasons or weather.

Will there be more DLC?

Three content packs are already out: Isopods, Weevils, Community Collection (Steam/Switch exclusive). We'll announce anything new on Discord first.

So Peculiar is a tiny indie studio of two, who happen to be married: Chera and Craig.

Chera spent the last seven years studying game design and coding as a hobby, which she now puts to use in Bug & Seek, and Craig is a recovering attorney who handles most of the art and written content for Bug & Seek. Bug & Seek is their debut project.
